Contract: 6 months | Immediate Start
Hourly Pay Rate: $45 p/h + Super
Responsibilities:
- Complete monthly reconciliations and assist with general accounting and financial administration tasks.
- Review and reconcile financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies where required.
- Review and update accounting procedures and processes to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance.
- Take ownership of allocated tasks from start to finish, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and regular management reporting.
- Extract and analyse financial information using Council's accounting systems and Excel.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting financial information as required.
- Manage and maintain Council's corporate credit card register and associated transactions.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance team while managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Ensure all accounting activities comply with relevant legislation, accounting standards and Council requirements.
Essential:
- Relevant experience in administration, business support or financial administration.
- Certificate IV, diploma or tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar finance-related role is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial information and reconciliations.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and financial management systems, preferably TechnologyOne.
- Ability to manage tasks independently, prioritise workloads and complete work from start to finish within required deadlines.
- Previous experience within a Council or local government environment would be advantageous.
