Accounts Payable Officer

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer
to support our client, a values-driven local council in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. This is an 8-week temporary opportunity, commencing ASAP, and offers a hybrid working arrangement with flexibility to work from home two days a week.
This role will see you join a collaborative and supportive Procurement team, where your attention to detail and systems knowledge will be highly valued. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounts payable transactions while upholding the organisation’s commitment to financial integrity and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices in accordance with Council policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate supplier data in collaboration with the Procurement team
- Ensure compliance with GST legislation and correct coding of accounts payable entries
- Prepare and verify electronic payments and bank transfers, ensuring appropriate approvals
- Demonstrated experience in accounts payable, preferably within local government, not-for-profit, education, or healthcare
- Microsoft Navision experience ideal
- Proficient in Excel and confident working with large-scale ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving queries
