Commercial Construction | South Melbourne |
Are you a construction professional who enjoys problem-solving, coordinating trades and working with people? This is an opportunity to take your construction knowledge into an Aftercare Maintenance Manager role with an established commercial builder in Melbourne.
With a strong pipeline of projects expected to come through in the new year, the business is looking to strengthen its aftercare team with a practical, organised and people-focused individual who takes pride in getting issues resolved and delivering a positive client experience.

The Opportunity
Working alongside an established aftercare team, you will oversee building defects and maintenance issues across a range of projects, coordinating rectification works and ensuring clients are kept informed throughout the process.
This is a varied role combining administration, client communication, trade coordination and site visits. The position can be tailored towards a more office-based or site-focused approach, depending on your strengths and experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage building defects, maintenance requests and aftercare issues across completed projects.
  • Assess defects and coordinate the appropriate trades to carry out rectification works.
  • Schedule and coordinate trades, monitor progress and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Communicate directly with clients, including private apartment owners, providing regular updates and managing expectations.
  • Arrange site visits, inspect issues and help determine practical solutions.
  • Maintain clear records and ensure aftercare matters are followed through to completion.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to deliver a high standard of service.
About You
You may currently be working in site management, construction supervision, maintenance, defects or aftercare, or have a broader construction background that would translate well into this type of position.
We are interested in people who have:
  • Previous experience in the construction industry and a sound understanding of building defects and rectification works.
  • The ability to identify issues and coordinate the right trades to resolve them.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients, owners and subcontractors.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple outstanding items.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to take ownership.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well within a close-knit team.
Experience across residential apartments, aged care, retirement living or social housing would be advantageous. Formal qualifications are not the main priority; practical experience, communication and personality are equally important.
Importantly, you don't need to have worked in an aftercare role before.

The business is open to construction professionals looking to transition into this area, provided they have the right attitude, transferable experience and willingness to learn.

What's on Offer?
  • An established team with a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • A varied role combining office coordination, client interaction and site-based work.
  • Flexibility to shape the role around your strengths, whether that is administration and coordination or a more hands-on, site-focused approach.
  • Potential work-from-home flexibility once established.
  • A business that values personality, teamwork and long-term development.
  • The opportunity to use your existing construction knowledge in a different capacity.
The role is primarily based from a South Melbourne office, with site visits across metropolitan Melbourne, including the CBD and surrounding suburbs. Working hours are generally around 7am-5pm, with some flexibility for the right person.

If you have a construction background, enjoy dealing with people and are looking for a role where your practical knowledge and communication skills can make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
