Public Sector People are working with a QLD State Government organisation to recruit an AO3 Assistant Finance Officer until 31st January 2026 (potential extension available). This role offers the chance to support essential financial operations in a fast-paced government environment.

Pay Rate: $50.37 per hour plus super

About the Role
  
This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and accurate financial processing for the organisation. You will be responsible for providing support and assistance on finance, system, and property-related functions to business partners.
  
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Processing accounts payable invoices and cost recoveries accurately and timely, in line with financial and legislative requirements.
      
  • Reviewing and validating accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure accuracy in financial systems, following procedural and GST legislation.
      
  • Accurately and efficiently receipting high-value and high-volume customer payments, and liaising on discrepancies and reconciliations.
      
  • Processing payments through SAP for capital projects, contracts, property maintenance, and funding programs.
      
  • Monitoring the cash clearing account, following up on uncleared receipts, and reconciling the account with Queensland Shared Services and business partners.
      
  • Analysing and investigating accounts payable/receivable discrepancies and recommending adjusting journals to maintain accurate financial records.
      
  • Controlling and updating vendor and tenant master data in the property management and financial system.
      
  • Assisting with end-of-month accruals, adjusting journals, and performing reconciliations.
      
  • Communicating professionally with suppliers, customers, and business partners on financial matters.
      
  • Providing financial and administrative support to the Senior Team Leader and team members, including support for system upgrades.

Skills and Experience Required:
  •    Strong Financial Knowledge: Well-developed knowledge of financial practices and procedures related to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including receipting and account reconciliation.
      
  •    Results-Driven: Able to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner, identify potential issues, and advise the Senior Team Leader accordingly.
      
  •    Team Player: You contribute positively and proactively to the team’s ability to meet deadlines and can interpret information to make recommendations.
      
  •    Problem-Solver: Actively works to understand client and stakeholder needs and effectively solves problems in a high-volume environment.
      
  •    Accountability: Demonstrated public service professionalism and a focus on the continuous improvement of work practices, systems, and processes.
