Public Sector People are working with a large Queensland State Government Department to recruit a motivated Finance Officer to join their infrastructure delivery team on an initial 6-month contract based near the Sunshine Coast.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a finance or administration background to step into a meaningful role supporting large-scale infrastructure projects across Queensland.
You will be a key part of the team ensuring financial integrity, accurate project costing, compliant payroll processing, and smooth procurement functions — all critical to keeping infrastructure delivery on track.
- Pay Rate: AO3 - $51.12 per hour plus super
- Initial 6 Month Contract with potential extension
- Location: Sunshine Coast, 4551. Onsite parking available
- Process financial and timesheet transactions for daily costing, revenue claims, and work orders using departmental finance systems, including transaction reconciliation.
- Monitor the financial position of projects and work orders, ensuring charges are correctly applied and flagging any deviations to management early.
- Prepare end-of-month and ad-hoc financial reports to support accurate project tracking and reporting on overall financial positions.
- Requisition and monitor the supply of goods and services to ensure uninterrupted workflows; investigate and resolve supplier issues as they arise.
- Prepare and validate employee timesheets for allowances and entitlements in accordance with relevant Industrial Awards, work agreements, and departmental policies.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and assist with stocktaking and inventory cost apportionment as required.
- Provide advice and support on costing and financial administration matters to project team members.
- Maintain strong governance across all financial and administrative responsibilities.
About You
You are a detail-oriented finance or administration professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in financial administration, project costing, or accounts — ideally in a government, construction, or infrastructure setting.
- Solid understanding of financial transaction processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Exposure to payroll processes and familiarity with Industrial Awards or enterprise agreements (desirable).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with project teams and line managers.
- Proficiency in financial or ERP systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
