About the Role:
Public Sector People are partnering with a state government department to find a dedicated Paralegal Support Officer. Based in Brisbane CBD, this AO3 position offers an opportunity to support legal professionals by handling routine legal tasks, allowing them to focus on delivering top-tier legal services. This role requires someone who can efficiently manage paralegal and administrative duties in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
This is a full time temporary position for 6 months with potential extension. Paying $50.37 + super per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Paralegal Assistance: Support legal staff by filing and serving legal documents, conducting searches for information, and compiling documents like briefs to experts and Counsel.
- Discovery Process: Assist in document inspection, supervision, and preparing lists of documents under supervision.
- Administrative Support: Aid in trial preparation, legal research, drafting routine court documents, and arranging meetings, appointments, and conferences.
- System Maintenance: Maintain bring-up systems and other tools that assist legal staff in their daily operations.
- Client Liaison: Communicate with clients, Counsel, legal practitioners, expert witnesses, and staff as required.
- Time Recording & Billing: Accurately record client time, assist with billing processes, and meet billing targets.
- Office Standards Compliance: Adhere to office standards, including the client service charter, meeting billable hour targets, and maintaining quality and timeliness.
- Attention to Detail: You have a strong focus on accuracy and detail in all paralegal and administrative tasks.
- Communication Skills: You can effectively communicate and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: You’re capable of managing multiple tasks, maintaining systems, and efficiently supporting legal staff.
- Team Collaboration: You’re willing to work across various teams and branches as required.
- Resilience: You can handle exposure to disturbing material related to criminal activity, which may be part of the WorkCover team’s responsibilities.
