Public Sector People are partnering with a highly respected organisation, known for its complex and challenging work, to find a dedicated individual to provide high-quality and timely financial support to their core finance function. This is an exceptional opportunity to utilise your broad financial knowledge and join a collaborative team of part-time professionals.

  • 12 Month Contract
  • AO4 - $59.16 per hour plus super
  • Brisbane CBD Location
  • Part Time Hours - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
You'll be a key component of the team, tackling a diverse range of tasks from daily banking and reporting to core Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. If you have demonstrable experience in a Government setting, or other complex corporate environment, we want to hear from you!
  
What You'll Be Doing
This role requires a proactive and solutions-focused approach. Your responsibilities will be broad and hands-on, including:
  • Accounts & Reporting: Processing accounts payable invoices, organising payments, preparing billing invoices, debt collection, and performing bank and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Asset Management: Processing and maintaining Asset creation and disposal documentation and coordinating the annual Asset Stocktake.
  • Procurement & Compliance: Sourcing appropriate suppliers, obtaining and evaluating quotations in accordance with State Purchasing Policy and internal guidelines.
  • Reconciliations & Journals: Ensuring the Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt clearing account is reconciled promptly, reviewing commitments, and preparing accrual and prepayment journals.
  • Administration: Overseeing travel/accommodation bookings, administration of settlement funds, daily receipting/banking, and maintaining desktop procedures.
  • Client Service: Providing high-quality services to internal and external clients and preparing written correspondence.
  
What You'll Bring to the Team

The ideal candidate will be a team player who can also work autonomously and is genuinely willing to learn and adapt.
  • Proven Financial Support Experience: Demonstrated experience and knowledge providing financial support within a   Government, or other complex corporate/regulatory environment is highly regarded.
  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail is non-negotiable for handling complex financial data.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a problem-solver mindset, and a solutions-focused approach.
  • Flexibility: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work effectively as part of a team comprising other part-time staff.
  
The Details   
  • Role: Part-Time Finance Officer
  • Hours: 3 days per week. The preferred working days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but we offer flexibility, provided the days are not three consecutive days(e.g., Mon, Tues, Wed).
