Public Sector People  are partnering with a High-profile State government Department to recruit an experienced AO5 Communication Officer for a temporary six month contract!
  
The purpose of the role will provide strategic community and stakeholder management services to technical and professional staff for community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship management.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Provide strategic communication advice to Project Directors and staff, particularly around difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies and stakeholder engagement plans for road infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare a range of communication materials including media releases, newsletters, ministerial briefings, speech notes, flyers, and display materials.
  • Coordinate community engagement activities and advise on media, issues management, crisis communication, and risk reporting.
  • Plan and manage key events such as project launches, road openings, and media opportunities.
  • Support and train project staff to enhance communication skills and improve stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensure all communication activities align with departmental policies, governance obligations, and WHS legislation.
About you:
  • A degree in communications, public relations, or marketing (Mandatory)
  • 3 + year experience working in a similar position (Mandatory)
  • Previous Government Experience in Local, state or Federal Government. (Desired)
  • Previous experience in dealing with difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
  • Experience in major infrastructure project environments and social media competency (highly regarded).
  • IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement and public participation.
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
  • Self-motivated, highly organised, and able to work autonomously under limited direction.
  • High attention to Detail / Excellent Stakeholder engagement skills is a must
  • Required to undergo employment screening (for example a criminal history check) as part of our selection process.
