Public Sector People are recruiting for an experienced AO5 Procurement Officer to join a QLD State Government Department on an initial 3 Month contract with a view to extension.  

  • 3 Month Contract with view to extension
  • Pay Rate: AO5 - $66.86 per hour plus super
  • South Brisbane Location - Parking Available
  • 2 Days per week WFH available

We are working with a Queensland State Government Department, seeking a dedicated Procurement Officer to join the team. In this role, you'll be responsible for a range of vital procurement activities, ensuring all processes align with the Queensland Procurement Policy. You will play a key part in preparing and managing tenders, working with suppliers, and ensuring our operations are compliant and cost-effective.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Tender Management: Prepare and manage the end-to-end tender process for various categories
  • Policy & Compliance: Implement and ensure full compliance with the Queensland Procurement Policy and other relevant legislation.
  • Supplier Relations: Work effectively with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and maintain high performance standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate procurement strategies to staff and provide high-quality customer service to the Department's clients, including managing escalated queries.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and implementation of medium and major contracts and local procurement practices.
What we're looking for:
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in a Government procurement role, with a strong understanding of government procurement processes.
  • Policy Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Queensland Procurement Policy and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Problem Solver: A knack for negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
  • Organised: Exceptional time management and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
