Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist, technical information and advice to schools on security matters.
- Promote and support best-practice security approaches, aligning with departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Monitor and investigate reported security incidents to identify trends and help schools develop strategies to mitigate risk.
- Assist schools with the development and implementation of security initiatives, policies, processes, and systems—including conducting on-site visits.
- Develop and implement broader security strategies to support the operational management of school facilities.
- Support schools in managing electronic intruder detection systems, key systems, and CCTV.
- Prepare detailed reports on security issues for departmental Executives.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, communication, advice, and outcomes.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver security training to schools through visits and workshops.
- Contribute to communication, promotional, and informational materials for divisional initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to school principals on security matters.
- Liaise with partnership agencies—including the Queensland Police Service—to obtain technical advice and access data.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including local councils and contractors.
- Review design plans for new or refurbished school facilities and provide expert advice on security installations.
Successful candidate
- Demonstrated experience in security operations, advisory roles, or related fields.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- The ability to analyze incidents, identify trends, and develop practical solutions.
- Knowledge of electronic security systems (alarms, CCTV, access control) is highly desirable.
- A proactive, organized approach and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
