This is a technical capital and asset accounting role sitting within a Corporate, Strategic Enterprise and Investment Finance function. You'll take ownership of capital project reporting and asset accounting compliance, working closely with senior stakeholders and Queensland Treasury.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing and analysing monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, and briefing notes on complex asset and capital management issues
- Providing expert advice on asset policies for Capital Work-in-Progress and associated acquisitions, applying Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements
- Ensuring the annual capital budget and revisions are accurately reflected in Treasury Budget Papers and internal systems
- Maintaining and strengthening internal controls over capital processes and asset accounting
- Building strong working relationships with Business Groups, Queensland Treasury, and external service providers
- Communicating capital and asset-related financial information clearly to senior management and auditors
- Strong technical knowledge of Non-Current Asset Policies, capital accounting, and asset management within a large or complex organisation
- CPA, CA, or MIPA (or working towards) highly regarded given the technical nature of this role
- Experience with government financial reporting frameworks highly desirable, though strong private sector capital/asset accountants with Treasury-adjacent exposure are encouraged to apply
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to translate technical asset/capital issues for non-technical audiences
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach and confidence working autonomously in a technical individual contributor capacity
