AO6 Senior Communication Advisor

Public Sector People  are partnering with a High-profile State Government Department to recruit an AO6 Senior Communication Advisor for a temporary contract position until 2028 with possible extension based in Buderim.

The successful applicate will lead strategic communications and stakeholder engagement to support a major transport infrastructure project and maintain strong public relations.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Develop and deliver strategic communication plans aligned with project goals and milestones.
  • Lead community engagement and consultation to build positive relationships and address concerns.
  • Create clear, engaging content for various channels, including media, social media, and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent, timely project updates.
  • Prepare briefing materials, speeches, and presentations for senior leaders.
  • Monitor media and public sentiment to inform strategy and manage issues and crisis communications.
  • Advise senior leadership on communication and engagement strategies.
  • Measure communication effectiveness and report on engagement outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organisational standards.
  • Mentor and support communication team members to foster a strong, collaborative culture.
About you:
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a communications and community engagement role, preferably within infrastructure, construction, or government sectors.
  • International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification, or a willingness to obtain certification independently
