Public Sector People are working with a Queensland State Government Department to recruit an AO6 Senior Management Accountant on an initial contract until 18th December 2026, with a possible 6 month extension. 
  • Location: Brisbane CBD
  • Rate: $79.17 per hour plus super
  • Contract until December 2026
About the Role: 

Working within the Strategic Investments and Enterprise Finance branch, you will join a collaborative Budget and Financial Management Team. These roles are ideal for experienced financial professionals who thrive in complex government environments and enjoy delivering high-quality analysis and advice to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide customer-focused financial management advice, performance information and in-depth analysis to support decision-making
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and targets, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial management reports, reconciliations, briefing notes and presentations on complex budgeting and forecasting matters
  • Contribute to the development and review of financial management policies and procedures in line with the Government's financial management framework
  • Ensure the agency's annual budget and revisions are accurately reflected in the budget management system and reconciled with allocations
  • Assist in preparing annual State Budget documents including the Service Delivery Statement, Annual Report, MYFER, Budget Submissions and Ministerial briefings
  • Build and maintain constructive working relationships with key stakeholders including business groups, senior management and Queensland Treasury
  • Review systems and processes to drive continuous improvement in financial management and reporting
  • Foster a professional environment that encourages ethical behaviour, skills development and continuous learning
  • Provide financial analysis support across ad-hoc projects as required

Highly desirable

Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance, combined with membership of CPA Australia, ICAA (Chartered Accountants ANZ), or MIPA status with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA)
