Public Sector People are working with a QLD State Government Department to recruit a AO6 Senior Procurement Officer on an initial 3 month contract. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in managing high-risk procurement and driving business improvement within a government department.

You will use your expertise to not only handle complex procurement processes but also to shape the future of how the department operates.

About the Role

In this role, you'll be instrumental in supporting the department's procurement network. You will be responsible for:

  • Procurement and Tender Management: Managing the full tender lifecycle, from planning to contract award, while providing expert advice to stakeholders and exercising procurement authorizations.
  • Data and Reporting: Overseeing monthly data reconciliation, contract disclosure reporting, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the department’s procurement data.
  • Business Improvement: Leading the development and implementation of new business processes and technology solutions, including the use of platforms like PowerBI and SharePoint, to enhance the procurement and contract management frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery meets whole-of-government requirements.
  • Compliance and Governance: Developing and implementing a Quality Assurance Program and performing compliance monitoring to ensure adherence to Queensland Government frameworks.

  • Expertise in Procurement: A demonstrated ability to manage complex procurement processes from start to finish, with a sound understanding of government procurement and contract management frameworks.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to identify issues, investigate root causes, and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships and actively participate in the design of new solutions and ways of working.
