Your Role:

You'll provide essential support to the Principal Project Officer in delivering a program of works to unlock value at abandoned mines throughout Queensland. This is a hands-on role spanning technical assessment, project management and procurement - covering re-commercialisation studies, technical appraisals of former mining tenure, desktop and field assessments, field supervision of contractors, and industry stakeholder engagement. You'll also represent the team at Departmental discussions to help coordinate large-scale projects and approvals.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Queensland Re-commercialisation Action Plan, including projects at various scales aimed at improving industry-led commercial successes at abandoned mines
  • Lead technical geological assessments, data collation and project scheduling for the Queensland Abandoned Mines Re-commercialisation Atlas
  • Lead procurement activities relating to re-commercialisation projects in collaboration with the broader team
  • Support the Principal Project Officer in industry engagement activities
  • Assist with re-commercialisation assessments, briefing notes and other administrative tasks in collaboration with the broader team
  • Other duties as directed and required
What We're Looking For:
  • A university degree in geology, science, engineering or another relevant technical/scientific discipline related to mining is highly regarded
  • Experience in the mining industry
  • Project management experience or qualifications (desirable)
  • A current open C class driver's licence (mandatory)
  • Willingness to travel away from the centre, including outside normal office hours and/or overnight, for extended periods
  • Physical fitness suitable for field work in remote locations with challenging terrain
