Senior Technology Officer – 4 Month Contract (Government Department)
A government department is seeking a Senior Technology Officer
on a 4-month full-time contract. This hands-on role leads a small IT team, providing technical support, advanced troubleshooting, and systems administration for bespoke platforms such as VisualFiles, eDocs, and Elite. You’ll act as an escalation point for complex issues, support IT projects, liaise with internal staff and external stakeholders, and contribute to process improvements and team development.
The ideal candidate has strong IT support experience, preferably within government or with database management experience, is process-driven, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and prioritise IT support tasks for a small team, ensuring high-quality client service.
- Provide technical guidance, advanced troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Perform systems administration, including server and device management.
- Assist with software installation, configuration changes, and deployment processes.
- Communicate with staff on technology issues and liaise with stakeholders.
- Support IT project delivery as a technical lead.
- Supervise and mentor team members, including rostering and skills development.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and team development.
- Adhere to security, compliance, and quality assurance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in IT support services, preferably within government or complex organisations.
- Database management experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge with VisualFiles, eDocs, Elite, or similar systems is a plus.
