This QLD state department is looking for two experienced Principal Infrastructure Services Officers to join their Maintenance and Improvement team. These are senior contract roles that play a key part in supporting the planning and delivery of infrastructure, asset management, and maintenance programs across Queensland schools, staff housing, and early childhood education centers.
As part of a high-performing team, you’ll provide leadership, strategic advice, and technical expertise to ensure that facilities across the education network are safe, functional, and fit for purpose.
Role 1 – Early Childhood Assets
You’ll join a small team of three to manage early childhood infrastructure assets.
Responsibilities
- Managing planned and unplanned maintenance and minor capital works.
- Leading process improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and contractor management.
- Strengthening stakeholder relationships with early childhood facility users.
Successful candidate
- Infrastructure or project management
- Change and process development
- Contractor and stakeholder management with complex stakeholder groups
Role 2 – Specialist Asset Programs
You’ll work within a team of two, managing asset maintenance programs focused on swimming pools, roof safety systems, and hydraulic infrastructure (e.g., fire hydrants).
Responsibilities
- Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance programs for specialist assets.
- Reviewing and uplifting processes and frameworks to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Managing contractors and engaging with diverse stakeholder groups to ensure safe and effective facility management.
Successful candidate
- Infrastructure or project management
- Contractor and stakeholder management in technical or complex operational environments
Key Responsibilities (for both roles)
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and methodologies for effective asset management.
- Provide expert advice to senior management, regional directors, and principals on infrastructure and maintenance matters.
- Oversee maintenance funding allocation and develop performance indicators for delivery partners.
- Analyze asset lifecycle data to inform future investment planning.
- Prepare high-level correspondence, reports, and ministerial briefings.
- Mentor and guide team members to build capability and support continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships to ensure best-practice service delivery.
