A well-established specialist engineering and building design consultancy based in Southern Sydney is seeking an Architectural Draftsperson to join its growing team.
The consultancy specialises in the architectural, structural and civil design of residential buildings, with a strong focus on projects involving insurance-related building repairs following events such as fire, storm, tree and vehicle damage.

About the Role This is a hands-on drafting and documentation role where you will be responsible for preparing accurate AutoCAD drawings, coordinating consultants, and managing Development Application (DA) submissions from commencement through to approval.
The position is best suited to someone who enjoys technical documentation, compliance and working within established processes. While the role is less focused on conceptual design, it offers excellent exposure to the planning, approvals and construction documentation process, providing a strong foundation for a career in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare architectural, structural and civil drawings using AutoCAD
- Conduct site inspections and accurately measure existing residential buildings
- Prepare detailed architectural and construction documentation, including waterproofing details, flashing, window schedules, sections and construction details
- Prepare and lodge Development Applications (DAs) through the NSW Planning Portal
- Prepare supporting documentation including Statements of Environmental Effects, Waste Management Plans and associated approval documentation
- Assist with CDC and Construction Certificate (CC) documentation
- Coordinate with external consultants including structural and civil engineers, surveyors, bushfire consultants, heritage consultants, stormwater engineers and arborists
- Interpret architectural concepts and assist with preliminary structural layouts to support the engineering team
- Relevant qualification in Architectural Drafting, Building Design or a related field (TAFE Diploma/Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's Degree)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential
- Knowledge of the NSW residential construction industry and the National Construction Code (NCC/BCA) is highly regarded
- Previous drafting experience is desirable, although motivated graduates with strong AutoCAD skills are encouraged to apply
