Public Sector People are partnering with a local council to recruit an Asset Protection Officer for a 3-month temporary contract assignment.

We are seeking an experienced Asset Protection Officer to help protect Council infrastructure and ensure compliance with asset protection requirements associated with building and development activities.

The role involves inspections, investigations, stakeholder engagement, and enforcement activities to minimise damage to Council assets and support effective cost recovery.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a council committed to protecting and enhancing its unique community, delivering high-quality services, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports residents, businesses, and visitors.
Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will play a key role in safeguarding Council assets, monitoring compliance with asset protection requirements, and supporting the management of development and construction activities across the municipality.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting asset protection inspections of roads, footpaths, kerbs, drains and other Council infrastructure before, during and after building works.
  • Investigating and assessing damage to Council assets resulting from construction activities and coordinating cost recovery processes.
  • Administering and enforcing asset protection and local laws requirements, including notices, permits and compliance actions where required.
  • Liaising with builders, developers, contractors, residents and internal stakeholders to provide advice and ensure compliance throughout construction projects.
  • Maintaining accurate inspection records, reports, photographs and correspondence while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Experience in asset protection, compliance, local laws, construction, engineering, infrastructure maintenance or a related local government environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping capabilities.
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach to problem solving.

What's on Offer?
  • 3-month temporary contract opportunity.
  • Work with an experienced and supportive team.
  • Gain valuable local government experience within a highly regarded council environment.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the protection and maintenance of community infrastructure.
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
