In this pivotal role, you will oversee day-to-day operations, drive improvement initiatives, mentor staff, manage budgets and resources, and ensure our community receives high-quality, customer-focused maintenance services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead, coordinate and optimise operational work across the Open Space section.
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans aligned with Council objectives.
- Provide expert advice and solutions for complex maintenance and operational challenges.
- Manage programs, review performance and ensure service levels meet community expectations.
- Deliver Council’s works improvement program and support change initiatives.
- Lead and mentor staff, promoting teamwork, accountability and a positive workplace culture.
- Prepare operational reports and engage with stakeholders including Councillors and the community.
- Oversee budgets, financial planning and cost-effective service delivery.
- Ensure strong compliance with WHS legislation, policies and procedures.
- Contribute to environmental sustainability, community safety and positive corporate representation.
- Background and experience in arboriculture
- Degree qualifications in logistics, applied science, operational or business management.
- Extensive experience in major operational roles within large organisations or local government.
- Strong leadership capability with a track record in strategy development and driving customer-centric outcomes.
- Experience in open space management, project management, staff supervision and contract oversight.
- Demonstrated success delivering open space capital projects on time and within budget.
- Financial management experience including budgeting and resource control.
