An international BESS developer is seeking a senior commercial leader to drive its markets and strategy function.
This opportunity would suit an experienced energy markets executive with a background leading commercial strategy, trading, origination, and revenue optimisation across complex energy portfolios. Experience within large-scale IPPs, utilities, energy retailers, or international renewable developers is highly regarded.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across wholesale electricity markets, structured energy transactions, and risk management, combined with a proven ability to lead negotiations and optimise long-term asset value.
Head of Commercial Origination
- Lead commercial and market strategy across a diversified renewable energy portfolio.
- Analyse wholesale electricity markets, pricing dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and emerging market trends.
- Identify and structure revenue opportunities including offtake agreements, tolling arrangements, hedging solutions, and capacity contracts.
- Evaluate merchant versus contracted exposure to optimise risk-adjusted returns.
- Lead negotiations with utilities, traders, aggregators, industrial customers, and financial counterparties.
- Develop integrated strategies across trading, physical energy markets, and financial hedging instruments.
- Partner closely with development, finance, legal, and asset management teams to ensure commercial outcomes are executable and value accretive.
- Monitor competitor activity and broader market developments across the Australian energy landscape.
- Senior leadership experience within energy markets, trading, or commercial strategy.
- Exposure to renewable generation portfolios including wind, solar, BESS, and hybrid assets.
- Strong understanding of NEM market dynamics, energy trading, and structured commercial agreements.
- Proven track record originating and negotiating complex energy transactions.
- Experience working across international and domestic energy markets within high-growth renewable environments.
