Public Sector People are proud to be partnering with Georges River Council to recruit a highly capable Coordinator Development Assessment. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to drive best-practice planning outcomes and support sustainable development across a growing LGA.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager Development & Building, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Development Assessment team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating development assessment operations to ensure timely and effective planning decisions
- Mentoring and supporting staff across assessment functions
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and planning instruments
- Representing Council in Land & Environment Court matters
- Implementing continuous improvement and customer service excellence
- Liaising with key stakeholders, including planning panels, solicitors, and the community
- Delivering complex and high-profile assessments and reports
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying or a related field
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
- Proven experience leading planning assessment functions, ideally within local government
- High-level communication, negotiation, and mediation skills
- Strong report writing and analytical capability
- A collaborative leadership style with a focus on service excellence and innovation
