This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced WHS leader to shape and embed a proactive safety culture across a large and diverse organisation. Leading Council's Work Health & Safety function, you'll drive strategic initiatives that strengthen compliance, improve wellbeing outcomes and support a safe, healthy and resilient workforce.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager People and Development, you'll lead Council's Work Health & Safety function, overseeing the delivery of strategic and operational WHS initiatives across a diverse workforce.
You'll drive the ongoing development of Council's WHS management system while providing expert advice across workers compensation, injury management, return to work and employee wellbeing. Working closely with leaders across the organisation, you'll manage complex WHS matters, support informed decision-making and implement practical improvements that strengthen safety performance and legislative compliance.
Leading a team of three, you'll provide leadership across the WHS function while partnering with managers across the organisation to strengthen safety capability, drive continuous improvement and embed a proactive safety culture.
About You
You'll be an experienced WHS professional who enjoys building strong relationships, influencing positive change and delivering practical safety outcomes across complex operational environments.
You will bring:
- Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading WHS and Injury Management functions within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, workers compensation and injury management, including the management of complex claims.
- Experience developing and improving WHS management systems, policies and organisational safety initiatives.
- The ability to influence, coach and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership experience with a collaborative, practical and approachable style.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
