Design Infrastructure Manager

The Design and Infrastructure Unit has a staff establishment of 15 staff. The role has delegated authority to represent Council in the public domain.
This position reports to the Planning and Infrastructure Director and has four direct reports:

• Traffic and Transport Team Leader
• Design and Drainage Team Leader
• Project Management Team Leader

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reporting to Planning and Infrastructure Director, the role will:
• Investigate and prepare strategies, business cases, designs, plans, specifications, construction and management of Council's infrastructure/assets.
• Act as Unit Head and co-ordinate the activities and priorities of the Unit to achieve Council’s objectives.
• Undertake the forward planning of the Unit based upon Council’s budget and management plans.
• Attendance at special Council committees, senior management meetings and other management meetings as required or directed from time to time.
• Maintain appropriate liaison and mediate as required with Government Bodies, the private sector, professional institutions, community groups and industrial bodies.
• Ensure that staffing resources are appropriate to facilitate the efficient implementation of Council’s objectives and management plans.
• Ensure the roles and duties are clearly defined for all staff and communicated to the staff.
• Ensure the sound and timely advice to the Director on matters of policy, opportunities, risks, finance, organisation, statutory matters, performance of organisation and community issues.
