Design and Build have partnered with a leading engineering business that supports the water and wastewater markets. They provide turn-key systems for a wide range of environmental sewerage & water infrastructure solutions, including large scale developments, councils, water authorities and extensive retail and channel partners.
Role Overview:
This role leads the design output for our client’s mechanical infrastructure product lines (primarily pump stations, pressure sewer systems, and maintenance holes), ensuring safe, fit-for-purpose solutions are developed in line with client specs and internal standards. While not managing Tier 1 scale projects, the role is still highly technical and requires mechanical infrastructure experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ownership of mechanical design packages from concept through IFC
- Coordination with civil and structural design disciplines
- QA and checking of detailed design documents (drawings, specifications, BOMs)
- Supporting Design & Construct delivery teams on project queries
- Contributing to standardisation and design improvement initiatives
- Mentoring junior engineers and designers within the Melbourne-based team
What We’re Looking For:
- 5–10 years in mechanical design in wastewater/pump systems
- Experience delivering water authority or council projects (non-Tier 1 acceptable)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor/SolidWorks, and understanding of pipework layouts, valve chambers, and flow control systems
- Strong stakeholder coordination skills (internal and external)
- Ability to act as technical checker/verifier (desirable)
- Comfortable operating as a hands-on, delivery-focused designer
