Design Leadership & Strategy
- Set and drive the design strategy across multiple infrastructure projects
- Provide technical direction and governance
- Champion innovation, sustainability, and best-practice design solutions
- Establish and maintain design standards and frameworks
- Lead design reviews and assurance processes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements
- Oversee design programs to meet cost, time, and quality targets
- Manage design risk, interfaces, and technical coordination
- Support successful project delivery from concept through construction
- Work closely with Engineering, Delivery, Commercial, and Operations teams
- Manage external consultants and design partners
- Act as the key design interface across internal and external stakeholders
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary design team
- Build capability and succession planning
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
- Drive improvements in design workflows and systems
- Implement digital engineering and improved design management practices
- Promote lessons learned and best-practice adoption
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within infrastructure, utilities, transport, energy, or similar sectors
- This Design Manager will have tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Design, or a related technical discipline
- The Design Manager will have strong experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams
- As the Design Manager you'll demonstrated experience in design governance and project delivery
- Knowledge of Australian standards and regulatory requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience within regulated or critical infrastructure environments
- Exposure to digital engineering / BIM environments
- Experience managing external consultants and complex interfaces
