Public Sector People are proud to be partnering with Georges River Council to recruit a passionate and capable Development Assessment Planner. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the assessment of development applications and contribute to the delivery of great planning outcomes for the local community.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Coordinator Development Assessment, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing a range of development applications and preparing associated reports
  • Conducting site inspections and ensuring compliance with planning legislation and Council policies
  • Providing clear, courteous advice to developers, community members, and other stakeholders
  • Responding to enquiries and correspondence in a timely and professional manner
  • Supporting the development of planning certificates and planning policy implementation
  • Contributing to Land and Environment Court matters as required
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and staying up to date with planning reforms
You’ll Bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related discipline
  • Sound understanding of building and planning practices, ideally in a local government setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Current Class C NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to present planning matters clearly and accurately
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across departments
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • A customer-focused attitude and a commitment to service excellence
