The role will support Council's compliance functions through investigations, enforcement activities, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory service delivery.
Here are the details of the role:
- Role Title: Development Compliance Officer
- Pay: from $45 per hour + super
- Location: Beaudesert
- Client: Regional Council
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Length: 12 months (with potential extension)
The successful candidate will work closely with Council officers, government agencies, industry representatives and members of the community to ensure compliance with relevant legislation while delivering a high standard of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake inspections, investigations and complaint management relating to Council's planning scheme, local laws and relevant State legislation.
- Prepare investigation reports, evidence briefs, notices and recommendations regarding enforcement actions.
- Initiate and manage enforcement processes, including preparing matters for court proceedings and attending court when required.
- Assess and process permits and approvals under the guidance of the Team Leader Development Compliance.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice and updates on compliance matters.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with Council policies and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience in compliance, enforcement, regulatory investigations, or a related local government environment.
- Sound knowledge of local laws, planning schemes, development legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
- A Certificate qualification in local government compliance or relevant compliance/enforcement experience. A tertiary qualification in land use planning will be highly regarded.
- A current C Class Driver Licence.
