Public Sector People are partnering with Western Downs Regional Council to appoint a Development Engineer — a key technical role supporting the delivery of sustainable and practical development outcomes across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer seeking a more balanced, community-focused environment, while still working across a broad range of development applications and infrastructure considerations.
The Role
Reporting to the Principal Planner, you will play a critical role in assessing development applications and providing engineering advice across a range of projects including subdivisions, roads, stormwater and infrastructure planning.

You will:
- Assess Operational Works and development applications
- Review engineering reports including stormwater, flooding and traffic impacts
- Provide technical advice and recommendations on development proposals
- Undertake site inspections and ensure compliance with approvals and standards
- Contribute to infrastructure planning, policy and LGIP frameworks
- Engage with developers, consultants and community stakeholders
- Support pre-lodgement discussions and development outcomes
About You
You are a capable and pragmatic Development Engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative, community-focused environment.

You will bring:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory)
- Experience in development engineering, ideally across subdivisions and infrastructure
- Understanding of planning legislation and development assessment processes
- Ability to review technical reports (stormwater, flooding, traffic)
