The Company
Our client is a well-established Tier 2 Mechanical Contractor delivering HVAC and mechanical services across a range of major commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects throughout Victoria.
Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Drafting Manager to take ownership of their drafting function and lead a team of mechanical drafters.

The Role
Reporting into the senior management team, you will be responsible for managing the company's drafting function and ensuring projects are delivered with accurate, coordinated and high-quality mechanical documentation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and mentoring a team of mechanical drafters.
- Overseeing drafting deliverables across multiple projects.
- Producing and reviewing detailed HVAC and mechanical services drawings.
- Managing drawing standards, revisions and document control.
- Coordinating mechanical services with architectural, structural, electrical and other building services.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Site Teams.
- Assisting with design coordination and resolving construction-related drafting issues.
- Managing project priorities, deadlines and drafting resources.
- Reviewing drawings for accuracy, constructability and quality.
- Supporting BIM/Revit coordination and clash detection.
- Developing and improving drafting processes, standards and systems.
- Liaising with consultants, builders and subcontractors where required.
- Providing technical guidance and support to the wider project team.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience within mechanical services / HVAC drafting.
- Experience managing or leading a drafting team.
- Strong AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP skills.
- A strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical services construction.
- Previous experience working for a mechanical contractor or building services contractor.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical understanding of how mechanical services are delivered on-site.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
