I'm currently recruiting a skilled Economic Development Officer to join a local council in the Eastern Suburbs for a 3-month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in economic development, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery to make an immediate impact in the local government sector.
The Role
This role will see you working across key areas of economic development including small business support, workforce development, trader group engagement, and implementation of strategic council initiatives. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes for the local business community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting delivery of the council’s Economic Development Strategy.
- Building strong partnerships with local businesses and trader groups.
- Leading projects such as the Better Approvals initiative to streamline council processes for small business.
- Supporting local workforce initiatives, including events for youth and career changers.
- Contributing to circular economy and social enterprise programs.
- Assisting in the delivery of the council’s Business Excellence Awards.
To hit the ground running, you’ll bring:
- A background in economic development, commerce, business development or a related field.
- Solid experience working with small businesses, community groups or within local government.
- Strong stakeholder engagement internal and external and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A current Victorian driver’s licence.
- Ability to develop and create communication marketing resources using established platforms
- Customer Service skills
- Data collection and analysis experience
