Rate: $55 per hour + super
Hours: 38 hours per week 

Public Sector People are currently partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s north eastern suburbs to recruit an experienced Economic Development Officer for a temporary opportunity through to 30 June 2026.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful economic and workforce initiatives that support local businesses, employment pathways, and long-term community growth.

In this role, you will support the delivery of key economic development strategies and projects, while building strong relationships across the business community and Council teams. You will play a key role in implementing workforce initiatives aimed at creating local employment opportunities and supporting sustainable economic outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting delivery of the Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 and related Council initiatives
  • Implementing actions from workforce planning initiatives to support local employment outcomes
  • Leading and coordinating economic development projects
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses and stakeholders
  • Working collaboratively across Council to drive positive economic outcomes
  • Researching, problem solving, and contributing innovative ideas and solutions
To be successful, you will bring:
  • Experience in economic development and a strong understanding of small business operations
  • The ability to apply specialist knowledge to identify opportunities and solve problems
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
