About Strathbogie Shire Council
Strathbogie Shire Council is a progressive regional Council located in North East Victoria, known for its strong community focus, beautiful rural landscapes and commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure outcomes for its growing communities.
With continued growth across residential development and infrastructure investment, Council is strengthening its internal engineering capability through the creation of a new Engineering Coordinator position within the Sustainable Infrastructure directorate.
Reporting to the Manager Capital Infrastructure & Strategic Projects, this role joins a collaborative leadership team focused on delivering practical infrastructure outcomes while supporting innovation, continuous improvement and long-term planning across the municipality.
About the Role
The Engineering Coordinator is a newly created leadership role responsible for overseeing development engineering, civil infrastructure design and technical delivery across Council’s capital works and development programs.
Leading a small and capable team comprising a Development Engineer, Project Design Engineer and Technical Officer, you will coordinate day-to-day priorities, provide technical oversight and support the planning and delivery of infrastructure projects across roads, drainage, subdivisions and community assets.
A key focus of the role is managing Council’s development engineering pipeline, including engineering referrals, subdivision inspections and the acceptance of new infrastructure assets associated with residential developments and growth areas.
You will also oversee the technical engineering aspects of Council’s capital works program, which is largely focused on civil infrastructure renewals, while contributing to future project planning, prioritisation and grant-funded opportunities.
The role combines hands-on technical coordination with people leadership, stakeholder engagement and consultant management. While some simpler designs will be delivered internally, you will also manage external consultants across larger and more complex infrastructure projects.
Working closely with an approachable and empowering leadership team, this is an opportunity to step into a visible and influential role where you can shape processes, mentor emerging engineers and contribute to the long-term delivery of infrastructure across the Shire.
About You
You are an experienced civil or infrastructure engineering professional with strong technical capability across development engineering, civil design and infrastructure project delivery.
You may come from either local government or the private sector and are looking for an opportunity to step into a broader leadership role with greater influence across project planning, team coordination and infrastructure outcomes.
You bring demonstrated experience managing competing priorities, providing practical engineering advice and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary environments.
Importantly, you are a people-focused and approachable leader who enjoys mentoring staff, solving problems and creating a positive team culture. You are confident engaging with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and developers, while balancing technical, operational and community considerations.
Council is open to emerging leaders ready to take the next step in their career, as well as experienced coordinators seeking a collaborative and supportive working environment.
