Public Sector People are working with a well-regarded council in Sydney, who are seeking a proactive and results driven Finance Business Partner
to join their team on a contract basis.
As a Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure the integrity of Council’s financial records, optimise budgeting processes, and contribute to the preparation of Annual Financial Statements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Council’s accounting records are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready
- Provide financial advice, support, and insight to departments to improve performance
- Assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements
- Develop and improve financial processes and procedures
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to influence and drive financial outcomes
- Undertake other duties as directed by senior finance leadership
Experience & Skills:
- Local government experience in a similar role and hands-on budgeting experience.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- CPA or CA qualified or currently working towards membership.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a finance business partnering role within a large, complex organisation.
- TechnologyOne experience highly desirable.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills.
- Proven ability to influence decision-making and drive financial performance.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to interpret and communicate financial data.
