A local council in Sydney is seeking a Governance Officer to join them on a contract basis.

- $50-$60ph + super

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide governance advice to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
- Support Council meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
- Maintain governance registers and ensure they are up to date.
- Develop and review policies and procedures to improve governance practices.
- Coordinate Councils business papers in accordance with the established timeframes, ensuring a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
- Conduct governance-related research and projects as directed.
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders to promote good governance.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation including the Local Government Act 1993, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and the Privacy and Personal Information Act 1998.
- Strong understanding of Local Government processes and legislation.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Proven experience in governance roles.
