Head of Strategy & Business Development – Renewables

An established engineering and manufacturing group with over 25 years of success in resources and infrastructure is entering an exciting new phase of growth. With strong shareholder backing and a proven track record in delivering large scale projects, the business is expanding into renewable energy solutions including battery storage, hybrid power systems, and fast charging technology for heavy industry.
The Role
We are seeking a senior commercial leader to drive the company’s renewable strategy and business development agenda. This role will report directly to the CEO and sit on the leadership team, with responsibility for shaping the go-to-market approach, forging strategic partnerships, and guiding the transition into new energy markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a 3–5 year growth strategy in renewable and hybrid energy solutions
- Define value propositions and market positioning for new products and services
- Build and lead a business development team (5–6 people), coaching them through the transition into renewables
- Establish and manage partnerships with OEMs, EPCs, and channel partners
- Oversee pipeline generation, bid strategy, and deal execution
- Support product development by feeding in market intelligence and customer insights
- Collaborate with engineering, projects, and supply chain to ensure successful delivery
- Represent the business with major clients and industry stakeholders
- Proven track record in business development or strategy within BESS, hybrid power, or broader C&I energy solutions
- Strong background in client engagement, deal structuring, and partnership building
- Experience leading and developing commercial teams through a market shift
- Understanding of behind-the-meter and off-grid applications in mining, resources, or industrial sectors
- Commercial acumen to navigate both capex and funded/operated business models
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
This role is based in Perth, WA. Some domestic travel will be required.
