About the Role In this role, you will partner with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver practical health and safety advice while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing workplace incidents from initial notification through to investigation and corrective actions.
- Monitoring and responding to the Safety Inbox.
- Conducting workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Investigating incidents and identifying practical risk mitigation strategies.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders to identify workplace hazards and opportunities for improvement.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety legislation, compliance and safe work practices.
- Delivering engaging safety education and training to build capability across the organisation.
- Supporting the implementation of Health, Safety and Wellbeing plans and initiatives.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of Health & Safety systems, processes and reporting.
- Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across a diverse workforce.
- Demonstrated experience in a Health & Safety, Workplace Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety position.
- Proven experience managing incident investigations, workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Strong knowledge of Victorian Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Strong communication and coaching abilities, with confidence delivering safety advice and training.
- A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Previous experience within Local Government will be highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety (or a related discipline), or equivalent practical experience.
- A current Victorian Driver Licence.
- Initial 3-month contract with an immediate start preferred.

- Located in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs, this position is ideal for candidates based across Melbourne's eastern metropolitan region, including the outer east and surrounding areas.
- Due to the collaborative nature of the role, regular on-site attendance is required, with travel to multiple sites across the municipality as needed.
- One work-from-home day per week is available, subject to business requirements (excluding Mondays and Fridays).
