This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Directors and Board, with responsibility across the wider business rather than a single site.
The Role
- Lead the HSE function and a small team of two direct reports
- Develop and drive the overall HSE strategy and continuous improvement
- Report to the Directors and Board on HSE performance, risks, trends and KPIs
- Manage workers compensation, injury management and complex case management
- Liaise with insurers, doctors and other stakeholders through to final settlement
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
- Manage HSE systems, legislation, quality and compliance
- Monitor ICAM/ICAMS, safety statistics, rates and industry benchmarks
- Work closely with HR on workers comp and complex employee matters
- Provide high-level HSE advice and challenge senior leadership where required
- Travel to the Pilbara approximately once a month to support regional operations
We are looking for a senior HSE professional with 10+ years' experience who can operate confidently at an executive level.
You will ideally have:
- Senior HSE Management experience within mining, quarrying, resources, civil or another high-risk industry
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and workers compensation
- Proven experience managing complex injury and workers comp cases
- Strong incident investigation and HSE systems experience
- Experience with ICAM/ICAMS, reporting, statistics and safety rates
- Board and senior leadership reporting experience
- Strong strategic and continuous improvement capability
- The confidence and credibility to influence the highest levels of the business
- A genuine drive to take an existing HSE function and push it towards best-in-class
