The Opportunity
Design & Build Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Tier 2 mechanical contractor with a strong pipeline of commercial, industrial and high-specification building services projects across Melbourne.
We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer with HVAC / mechanical services experience to join their delivery team and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects from procurement through to completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take the next step with a contractor that offers exposure to technically complex projects, strong project teams and genuine career progression.
The Role
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of mechanical services packages, including:
- Assisting with the management and delivery of HVAC and mechanical services packages
- Reviewing designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Managing subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
- Supporting procurement, tendering and contract administration
- Monitoring project costs, variations, progress and commercial outcomes
- Coordinating shop drawings, RFIs, design changes and technical submissions
- Supporting project programming and construction planning
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
- Working closely with site teams, clients and consultants to resolve project issues
We are looking for a mechanically qualified engineer who has gained experience within the Australian construction / building services market.
Ideally, you will have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
- 3+ years' experience within mechanical services / HVAC
- Contractor-side or subcontractor experience
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical services
- Experience working across construction projects from design through to delivery
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- The ability to work autonomously while being part of a wider project team
