Hydraulic Modelling Engineer

Melbourne | Permanent Full Time

A global engineering and infrastructure services company is expanding its Advisory and technical consulting team in Australia and New Zealand and is seeking a Hydraulic Modelling Engineer to support major water infrastructure projects and strategic network planning initiatives.

This position is designed as a 50% project delivery and 50% advisory role, combining hands on hydraulic modelling with strategic support for water utilities and infrastructure owners looking to optimise and plan their networks.

The Role

Working closely with project leaders and multidisciplinary teams, you will support both technical project delivery and strategic advisory engagements for water utilities and infrastructure clients.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and calibrating hydraulic models for water distribution and sewer networks
• Supporting project delivery including modelling, data analysis, reporting and technical documentation
• Contributing to strategic advisory work such as network optimisation, master planning and options analysis
• Supporting concept design and system planning studies
• Conducting data collection, field verification and monitoring campaigns where required
• Preparing technical reports, modelling outputs and project deliverables
• Collaborating with engineers, planners, operators and external stakeholders
• Participating in client workshops, advisory sessions and technical discussions

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys both technical engineering work and strategic problem solving.

You will likely have:

• A degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering
• Experience modelling water distribution and/or sewer networks
• Proficiency with hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks, EPANET, WaterGEMS or similar
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience interpreting operational data and system performance
• The ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders

Experience working with water utilities, infrastructure consulting or network optimisation projects will be highly regarded.

Why This Role

• Work on major water infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand
• Contribute to both technical modelling projects and strategic advisory work
• Join a growing engineering advisory team focused on network optimisation and planning
• Opportunity to work with water utilities, infrastructure owners and multidisciplinary engineering teams
