Public Sector People are partnering with Livingstone Shire Council to appoint two Infrastructure Project Engineers / Project Managers to join a high-performing Major Projects team delivering a significant and growing capital works program.
  
This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end infrastructure delivery, working across a diverse portfolio of projects valued between $50M–$60M annually.
The Opportunity
  
Reporting to the Manager Major Projects, you will lead infrastructure projects from initial concept and planning through to construction and handover, ensuring delivery to scope, budget and programme.
  
You will play a key role in delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects, including:
  
  • Landfill cell construction (~$9M)
  • Water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment upgrades
  • Road and transport projects ($25M)
  • Industrial subdivision and depot developments (~$22M)
  • Coastal and foreshore protection works
  • Community and public infrastructure projects
  
This is a hands-on, full lifecycle role, where you will be involved from early-stage planning and stakeholder engagement through to procurement, contract administration and delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the planning, design and delivery of infrastructure projects
  • Act as Contract Superintendent or Superintendent’s Representative
  • Manage consultants, contractors and project stakeholders
  • Provide technical advice and reporting to senior leadership and Council
  • Support forward works programming and long-term capital planning
  • Ensure governance, safety and compliance across all project phases
  • Work collaboratively across teams to deliver projects with no surprises
  
You will be working within a collaborative, team-driven environment, supported by governance groups, consultants and internal stakeholders — not operating in isolation.
About You
  
You are a proactive and capable infrastructure professional who enjoys taking ownership and delivering outcomes.
  
You will bring:
  
  • Degree in Engineering (Civil preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure projects in Australia
  • Strong contract administration and project management capability
  • Experience managing consultants and contractors
  • Ability to operate across planning, design and construction phases
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders
  • RPEQ is desirable but not essential — candidates eligible to obtain registration will be considered.
  
Local government experience is not mandatory. Candidates from private or state sectors with strong project lifecycle experience and the ability to operate in a public-facing environment are encouraged to apply.
