The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for calibration, fault correction, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of a wide range of instrumentation and control equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production reliability and ensuring GMP compliance across the site.
  
Responsibilities:

  • Perform fault-finding, repair, and calibration of instrumentation systems including temperature, pressure, flow, conductivity, pH sensors, and valves.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues on electrical circuits and process control systems.
  • Carry out routine calibrations in the workshop and on-site (in-situ).
  • Execute scheduled maintenance, shutdowns, and overhaul tasks.
  • Read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and prepare sketches for system modifications.
  • Support test runs, commissioning, and maintenance planning activities.
  • Maintain GMP-compliant workshop equipment and calibration instruments.
  • Perform SAP CMMS data entry and work planning activities.
  • Gown-up and enter cleanroom environments when required (GMP).
  • Work collaboratively with team members across rotating day and night shifts.
  
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Certificate III or IV (or equivalent) in Instrumentation or Electrical (Australian qualification required).
  • Proven experience in technical instrumentation within pharmaceutical, FMCG, oil & gas, or similar regulated industries.
  • Solid knowledge of calibration procedures and investigation of non-conformances.
  • Prior experience in GMP environments and cleanroom operations.
  • Familiarity with SAP or another Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Excellent coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and team collaboration.
  
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience programming and setting up process instruments.
  • Exposure to shift-based roles in highly automated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to assist with maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  
Other Details:
  • Contract Length: 12 months (potential to extend or go permanent)
  • Location: Tullamarine, Melbourne
  • Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts – day (6am–6pm) and night (6pm–6am)
  • Overtime: Penalty rates paid for hours beyond 38 per week
  • Eligibility: WHV candidates accepted if they have full Australian qualifications and can commit to full duration
