We are currently partnering with a specialist energy assessment consultancy, to appoint a Junior Architectural Assistant / Draftsperson to support their growing pipeline of residential projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in architecture or drafting who enjoys the technical side of plans, but is open to stepping into a more analytical, coordination-focused role (no actual drafting required).
The Role
Working closely with the energy assessment team, you will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting residential building plans and translating key information required for NatHERS and energy compliance assessments.
You’ll act as the link between architectural documentation and assessors—ensuring all specifications, variations, and inclusions are clearly understood and communicated.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret residential building plans and documentation
- Extract and compile key data required for energy assessments (NatHERS)
- Review standard inclusions vs. client variations (e.g. wall heights, materials, glazing changes, etc.)
- Produce clear specification summaries for assessors
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in assessments
- Support the admin/coordination side of project delivery
- Background in Architecture, Drafting, or similar (1–3 years ideal)
- Strong ability to read and understand residential construction drawings
- Detail-oriented with a technical mindset
- Good understanding of building materials and construction methods
- Excellent communication skills—able to translate technical info clearly
- Interest in sustainability / energy efficiency (highly regarded)
