is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician
on behalf of a Local Government Department. This role is a temporary position with potential for extension.
About the role:
As a laboratory technician you will assist in carrying out physical, chemical and microbiological testing on water and wastewater samples and carry out any other incidental tasks as required of the position.

- Full Time Position - 38 Hours per week
- Conduct routine sampling and testing to monitor the regional water supply system, sewage treatment plants, and landfill sites.
- Process and test samples according to standard physical, chemical, and microbiological methodologies, recording test results.
- Perform housekeeping and general maintenance duties related to the sampling and testing program.
- Collect water and wastewater samples from identified locations and conduct field testing as necessary.
- Participate in improving work processes and procedures, along with other responsibilities as delegated by Management.
- Formal qualification (Certificate Level III in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent) in laboratory work.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake further studies to maintain standard of knowledge and skills base within laboratory operations (tertiary studies preferable).
- Current QLD ‘C’ Class manual drivers licence.
- A diploma in Laboratory Techniques, Chemistry etc. would be highly desirable.
- This job entails field sampling which requires a degree of physical dexterity to access remote sites and take samples.
