Lead Estimator

We are currently recruiting for aLead Electrical Estimator to join a leading company specialising in energy solutions, focusing on HV infrastructure, substations, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for HV infrastructure, substation, and BESS projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
• Project Review: Analyze project specifications, drawings, and documents to determine scope, budget, and timelines for electrical projects.
• Prepare detailed and comprehensive tenders for new projects, working closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Conduct value engineering assessments to optimize cost-efficiency and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or safety.
• Identify and assess potential risks related to project costs and timelines, developing mitigation strategies as required.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and contractors to ensure favorable pricing and timely procurement of materials and services.
• Monitor project budgets and costs during the execution phase to ensure estimates align with actual expenditures.
• Provide support to the project team during the transition from estimating to project execution, ensuring that all required documents and specifications are transferred smoothly.
• Lead, mentor, and support junior estimators, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
• Work directly with clients to clarify project requirements, provide updates on cost estimates, and address any queries or concerns.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in HV infrastructure, substations, and BESS to ensure estimates are current and accurate.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator, with a focus on HV infrastructure, substations or BESS projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts, HV systems, substation design, or BESS technologies.
• Proficient in estimating software as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical infrastructure, substation design, and BESS systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal teams, clients, and external vendors.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex electrical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team of estimators.
