Public Sector People are partnering with a local government organisation to recruit for an Library Assistant.
  
Contract: 3 months | Immediate Start
Hourly Pay Rate: $37 p/h + Super
  
Responsibilities: 
  • Provide high-quality customer service at the library service desk, assisting patrons with enquiries, library services and general information.
  • Educate and assist library users with borrowing procedures, library systems, resources and available services.
  • Process returned items, loans, reservations, holds and other borrowing transactions in accordance with library procedures.
  • Undertake shelving, stock organisation and collection maintenance to ensure library materials are accessible and presented appropriately.
  • Assist with processing damaged, incomplete and claimed-return items, following relevant library procedures.
  • Support the delivery of library programs, activities and community events alongside Library Team Members.
  • Assist with collection displays, themed displays and promotion of new library items to encourage collection use.
  • Follow Council WHS, Code of Conduct and customer service requirements, promptly reporting hazards, incidents and issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  
Essential:
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality customer service within a diverse and cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, internal business units, team members and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and complete tasks to required quality standards within set timeframes.
  • Sound written, verbal and numerical communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing tasks and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing effective customer service and handling customer enquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing, community service, library or local government environment would be highly desirable.
