About the Role
As the Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring critical materials and services are available to support the delivery of flood recovery and infrastructure projects across the region.
You will manage quarry operations, oversee procurement and logistics activities, coordinate contractors and suppliers, and build strong relationships with internal teams, private landowners, contractors and government stakeholders.
This is a diverse role combining logistics, contract management, procurement, quarry operations, financial governance and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operation of Council-controlled quarries, ensuring compliance with environmental, mining and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Develop and implement quarry management, rehabilitation and logistics plans.
- Coordinate the extraction, processing and supply of quarry materials to support flood recovery, maintenance and capital works programs.
- Manage inventory systems, stockpile monitoring and annual drone surveys.
- Administer procurement processes for extraction, crushing, transport and associated services.
- Manage contracts and contractor performance to ensure quality, compliance and value for money.
- Calculate and administer landowner royalty payments in accordance with access agreements.
- Develop gravel unit rates to support project estimating and DRFA funding submissions.
- Liaise closely with Civil Works, project teams and contractors to ensure materials are delivered efficiently.
- Prepare budgets, reports, funding submissions and strategic advice for management and Council.
- Foster strong working relationships with private landowners, government agencies, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation and industry standards.
Successful candidate
- Demonstrated experience in project management within civil construction, infrastructure or logistics.
- Strong procurement, contract administration and supplier management experience.
- Experience managing quarry operations, construction materials or heavy civil logistics will be highly regarded.
- Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong financial management and reporting capability.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
- A collaborative leadership style with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Essential Qualifications & Licenses
- Civil engineering experience or a related discipline with substantial experience in civil works operations.
- Minimum five years' experience in a similar role, preferably within Local Government.
- Senior Site Executive (SSE) qualification for quarry operations (or the ability to meet this requirement).
- Current Construction Industry White Card.
- Current unrestricted Queensland "C" Class Driver License.
- National Police Check (or ability to obtain one).
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or Surface Extraction Operations.
