Our client, a local council in Melbourne’s south east, is seeking an experienced Marketing & Events Officer to support the delivery of marketing campaigns across major events, festivals, arts, culture and tourism initiatives.

About the Role Working closely with the Major Events and Festivals team, you will support the planning and delivery of year-round marketing campaigns designed to increase awareness, attendance, engagement and audience growth.
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating marketing campaigns and detailed campaign schedules across multiple events and festivals
- Creating, scheduling and publishing engaging content across social media platforms including Meta, Instagram and YouTube
- Developing social-first content including Reels, short-form video, photography, graphics and promotional content
- Managing social media communities, monitoring trends and responding to enquiries
- Creating and distributing eDM and email marketing campaigns
- Supporting paid social media campaigns, including setting up and monitoring Meta Ads
- Using campaign analytics and audience insights to measure performance and optimise activity
- Developing marketing collateral using Canva or similar design platforms
- Coordinating content and creative briefs with designers, photographers, videographers, PR agencies and other suppliers
- Working collaboratively with event producers, artists, performers, sponsors, influencers and community stakeholders
- Supporting campaign reporting, post-event evaluation and continuous improvement
You will ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience delivering marketing campaigns, preferably within events, festivals, tourism, arts, culture or community programs
- Strong experience managing social media platforms and content calendars
- Excellent content creation and copywriting skills
- Experience creating photography, video, Reels and other social-first content
- Proficiency using Canva or similar design tools
- Experience with email marketing/eDM platforms
- Understanding of paid social advertising, particularly Meta Ads Manager
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use campaign data to improve results
- Excellent organisation and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Previous local government or community-focused experience will be highly regarded
