We currently have two temporary mechanic opportunities available across Western Sydney with local council clients, offering great hourly rates and immediate starts. These roles are based in Greenacre and Rooty Hill and suit experienced mechanics looking for consistent work in a council environment:

Mechanic – Greenacre Canterbury-Bankstown Council | $47.54/hr

We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to join a busy council workshop in Greenacre. This role involves servicing, maintenance, and repair of a range of council fleet vehicles.

You will be responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance across medium and heavy vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Essential qualifications:
  • Trade qualification as Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
  • MR Driver’s Licence
  • Motor Mechanics Licence
  • AIS Inspector Ticket
  • HR Licence required within 3 months of commencement
Essential experience:
  • Corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy vehicles
  • Strong knowledge of suspension systems
  • Experience with automatic and manual transmissions
  • Diesel and petrol engine systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Highly regarded:
  • MIG and stick welding experience
  • Auto electrical repair experience
  • Experience with waste trucks, road sweepers, medium and large trucks, earthmoving plant, agricultural machinery, and small mechanical equipment
Heavy Diesel Mechanic – Rooty Hill Blacktown City Council | $58.59–$75/hr

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join a busy council workshop in Rooty Hill. This role involves inspection, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of heavy vehicles, trucks, and plant equipment.

You will be responsible for ensuring all fleet and equipment is safe, compliant, and operational across a varied and fast-paced workshop environment.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy vehicles and plant
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults in diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems
  • Mechanical repairs, overhauls, and component replacements
  • Use of diagnostic tools and ECM systems
  • Maintaining accurate service records and logs
  • Ensuring WHS and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance
Essential requirements:
  • Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy vehicle or plant maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and electronic control modules
  • HR licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of WHS and CoR requirements
  • Good record keeping and documentation skills
Highly regarded:
  • Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector (HVRAS/HVIS)
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience in heavy diesel fleet maintenance environments
