About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled National Commissioning Manager to lead and manage all electrical commissioning activities across major energy and infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

You will oversee commissioning from pre-commissioning through system turnover, ensuring electrical systems are tested, validated, and operational in full compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. This is a senior leadership position within a dynamic engineering services organisation delivering across power systems, renewables, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and maintain commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, and schedules aligned with project milestones.
  • Lead all commissioning phases including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and system energization.
  • Coordinate closely with EPC contractors, OEMs, testing specialists, and utility stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes and maintain complete documentation of all commissioning packages.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as IEEE, NETA, NEC, and NFPA 70E.
  • Support development of safe work permits, LOTO procedures, and switching orders.
  • Participate in HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and system walkdowns to identify and mitigate commissioning risks.
  • Serve as the key interface between construction, engineering, operations, and commissioning teams.
  • Mentor and guide commissioning engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety.
About You
  • Electrical License.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 10+ years of experience leading electrical commissioning in power generation, transmission, or large-scale industrial facilities.
  • Proven technical expertise with HV/MV switchgear, transformers, protection and control systems, and rotating equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical test equipment and interpretation of test results (e.g. insulation resistance, relay settings).
  • Exposure to control and communication systems is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with commissioning management systems and documentation tools.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or NETA Level III/IV certification preferred.
  • Relevant safety training (e.g. OSHA 30 or equivalent).
  • Willingness to travel nationally to project sites as required.
What’s on Offer
  • Join a market-leading engineering services company supporting Australia’s energy transition and infrastructure delivery.
  • Lead commissioning activities on nationally significant renewable and power infrastructure projects.
  • Opportunity to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing commissioning team.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package aligned to experience and project scope.
  • A culture that values safety, collaboration, technical excellence, and professional growth.
How to Apply If you have a proven background in electrical commissioning and leadership within large-scale energy or infrastructure projects, we’d love to hear from you.
